Promotion/Prevention Conference at the Carter Center (Last Updated On: ) Promotion/Prevention Conference at the Carter Center Atlanta 5-8 December 2000 The keynote speakers for the inaugural world conference on “The Promotion of Mental Health and Prevention of Mental and Behavioral Disorders” are WHO Director General Gro Harlan Brundtland, M.D., and U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health and Surgeon General David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D. The meeting is a program of WFMH in collaboration with the Clifford Beers Foundation of the U.K. It has recently gained three new co-sponsors in addition to the World Health Organization and the Carter Center. These are the U.S. National Institute for Mental Health, the U.S.Center for Mental Health Services, and the U.S.Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
