News From the Region (Last Updated On: ) Japan A volume on “Mental Health Japan” has been published in celebration of the 60th birthday of Kunihiko Asai, former Honorary Secretary of the WFMH Board member and organizer of the memorable World Congress in Makuhari, Chiba. The book is in English and aims to provide an overview of mental health care and psychiatry in Japan for other countries. It brings together articles written by Dr. Asai over the last twenty years, ending with a paper on new mental health and welfare law and recent mental health policy prepared for the WHO Shanghai Symposium in November 1999.
